What this site doesn't do
There are no cookies on this site. There's no analytics or visitor tracking, no advertising, and no forms, sign-ups or accounts. You can read every page without giving us anything.
The fonts and images you see are served from this site itself, not pulled from outside font or image services, so loading a page doesn't tell a third party you're here.
Server logs
Like nearly every website, the hosting provider keeps standard server logs, things like the address a request came from, the time, and the page asked for. Those logs are used for security and to keep the site running. We don't use them to build profiles or to follow anyone around the web.
Embedded videos
Some answers include a short video. Until you press play, it's only a still picture stored on this site, and nothing loads from YouTube. When you press play, the video loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) domain, and from then on YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that video.
Links to other sites
Answers link to the sources they rely on, such as utilities, government agencies and equipment makers, and a few marked links go to businesses owned by or connected to the publishers. Once you follow a link off this site, the other site's own privacy policy applies.
Changes
If anything here changes, this page will be updated and re-dated.
